Mustafa El-Ibrahim
Mustafa El Ibrahim, 27
Mustafa El-Ibrahim is a young man who was born in Syria in 1999.
Three years ago, he was living in Turkey when he decided to make his way to Europe, and set off for Bulgaria with a group of people, led by a smuggler.
After walking for a day and a half through the forests, they risked being stopped by the Bulgarian Police: the trafficker then took the group back to the Turkish border, and arranged for a taxi for their return to Istanbul.
Some time later, the taxi driver told the family that Mustafa, along with other young people, had been dropped in the Sultangazi area of Istanbul.
The family began searching for him and hired a lawyer. But he concluded that there was no longer any record of the boy’s presence on Turkish territory (including hospitals, mortuaries, prisons, camps and detention centres).
To date, his parents do not know where he is, and he has not contacted them since.
