Eid Ahmed Hinayyan was 32 years old when he decided to leave Turkey, where he had been living, and try to reach Europe via Bulgaria.

Eid traveled with a group of young men, women, and children. After walking for a long time through the forests, the group arrived at a location where a car was supposed to pick them up. Unfortunately, there wasn’t enough space for everyone, so Eid decided to return along the same route with the guide.

On his way back, Eid felt exhausted and his feet were hurting. He decided to turn himself in to the Bulgarian police. The smuggler left him near point 53, and Eid made a final call to his family to inform them that he had seen the police coming and would hand himself over. This was the last contact with Eid, which occurred on February 12, 2022.

The family immediately began searching for Eid in Turkey. As Eid had a Turkish identity card, they looked for him in prisons and detention centers but found no trace. His brother, who lives in Germany, traveled to Bulgaria to carry out further research, with the support of a lawyer and a translator. However, the Bulgarian authorities claimed that Eid was not present on Bulgarian territory. The family has also submitted a request to the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, but so far, they have received no response.
